Project Overview

The USAID Kizazi Kipya Project was a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving the lives of over 1 million Tanzanian orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), adolescents, and young people affected by HIV and other adversities. In Morogoro, HACOCA played a key role in implementing the project across Mvomero, Kilosa, and Morogoro Municipal Council (MC), delivering a range of targeted services to OVC and their families. These services included psychosocial support to help children and adolescents cope with trauma and loss, social protection services to safeguard their rights and well-being, and HIV services such as testing, counseling, and treatment to ensure better health outcomes for those affected by or at risk of HIV.

HACOCA also supported nutrition programs to improve the health and development of vulnerable children, ensuring they received adequate and balanced diets. In addition, the project offered economic strengthening interventions, helping households increase their income through livelihood training and support, which enabled families to become more self-reliant. By delivering these integrated services, HACOCA ensured that the most vulnerable populations in Morogoro had access to the essential resources needed to improve their care, health, education, and overall well-being. Through its efforts, the Kizazi Kipya Project made a lasting impact on the lives of OVC and their families, empowering them to thrive both now and in the future.
