ACHIEVE (Adolescents and Children HIV Incidence Reduction, Empowerment, and Virus Elimination) Project
This project’s objective is to improve the health, well-being, and protection of OVC and youth in high HIV burden communities by strengthening community-level support systems and delivering comprehensive, high-quality case management services.
Project Overview
HACOCA, in collaboration with PACT Tanzania, has played a key role in implementing the ACHIEVE Project in Morogoro Municipal Council, Kilosa District Council, and Mvomero District Council. The project focuses on improving access to HIV-inclusive services for OVC, caregivers, and youth in high HIV burden areas. HACOCA has worked closely with community case workers (CCWs) and community health volunteers (CHVs) to deliver case management services that address the diverse needs of OVC and their families. These services include health and HIV-related support, psychosocial care, educational assistance, and economic empowerment initiatives.
By focusing on the well-being and protection of OVC, HACOCA has also integrated support for caregivers, ensuring that families are equipped to provide sustained care. The project involved building the capacity of local organizations and service providers, enabling them to manage and implement OVC and DREAMS interventions. Throughout its implementation, HACOCA has emphasized collaboration with local stakeholders to strengthen community systems and ensure the quality of services provided to OVC and youth.
Project Achievement
HACOCA successfully reached a total of 11,264 OVC and 5,494 caregivers with comprehensive case management services delivered on a monthly basis by community case workers and health volunteers. Through this project, HACOCA has significantly contributed to improving the health, well-being, and protection of vulnerable children and youth in Morogoro, Kilosa, and Mvomero, ensuring they have access to essential services and support. This achievement highlights HACOCA’s dedication to strengthening community systems and enhancing the lives of those most affected by HIV.
