Project Overview

This project was a collaborative effort between HACOCA and Compassion International, focusing on the urgent needs of PLHIV and OVC in Morogoro Municipal. The project sought to address the multifaceted challenges faced by these vulnerable populations, including the need for regular health check-ups, emotional support, and social integration. By establishing VCT services, HACOCA provided a crucial lifeline to 9,500 OVC and 14,300 caregivers, offering them a safe space to receive medical advice, testing, and counseling. Additionally, the creation of support clubs for PLHIV helped foster a sense of community and belonging among individuals who often faced social isolation due to their health status.

Project Achievement

The project significantly improved the quality of life for both PLHIV and OVC in Morogoro Municipal. Over 90% of the PLHIV who participated in the support clubs reported improved mental health and a stronger social support network. Additionally, the project contributed to a 20% increase in the number of OVC attending school, as the health and emotional well-being of these children improved through the comprehensive care provided.
